If you sell an item that comes in multiple sizes or colors, you don’t need to make separate products. You can create a single product with a dropdown menu for options.

🚨 IMPORTANT: Un-Sync the Product First! Since you are changing the data from what the manufacturer provides, you need to un-sync this item via the API Catalog database. If you skip this step, all of your work will be overridden and erased during the next data sync.

How to Un-Sync a Product from the Database:

1. Log in to the catalog database. This can be accessed via your website’s dashboard by clicking Catalog Database.

2. Once logged in, click on Items to access the full list of available products.

3. Find your product by searching for the product name or SKU. (Alternatively, you can click on “Sync Status: Active” and press the filter button to show all currently active items).

4. To deactivate the active sync, click the Sync status button to toggle it from green to grey. Once the item shows as grey, it will no longer be updated by the data source.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Add Variations:

1. Navigate to Products and click on the item you want to edit.

2. Scroll down to the Product Data box. At the top of this box, click the dropdown menu that says Simple Product and change it to Variable Product.

3. On the left side of the box, click the Attributes tab.

4. Click Add new to create your option category (e.g., type “Size” for the Name, and type “Small | Medium | Large” in the Values box, separating them with the straight pipe symbol |).

5. Crucial: Check the box that says Used for variations, then click Save attributes.

6. Now, click the Variations tab on the left.

7. Click the dropdown that says Add variation, change it to Generate variations, and click Go.

8. Your options will appear! Click on each one to expand it and set its specific Regular Price. (Variations will not show up on the website without a price).

9. Scroll up and click Update on the main page to save.
